Philosophy

Puget Sound Adventist Academy (PSAA) and Kirkland Seventh-day Adventist School (KSDA) offers a Christ centered athletic program for both boys and girls. Our athletic program is designed to meet the needs of all grade levels and ages. We offer extracurricular sports for students in grades 3-8 for Kirkland and 9-12 for Puget Sound.

Extracurricular sports enhance the overall educational program of the school and help to develop holistic students. It is the goal of the school to help student athletes to develop Christ like characteristics and to be able to openly express and represent the Christian deals and values that the school upholds. The sports program helps to prepare student athletes to live purposeful, ethical and productive lives in their school, jobs, faith, families and community through a positive sports experience that fosters and promotes the concepts of team work, hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, and Christian behavior. Our student athletes will be academically accomplished, spiritually rooted, service oriented and self-reliant.

Core values of our program include encouraging all student athletes to have a Christian walk, excellent scholastics, strong self-discipline, stewardship and personal accountability. Our sports teams logo is the shark, and being a Shark is more than just playing a sport, it is a privilege and all our athletes are expected to be role models and held to a higher set of expectations.

Purpose

The idea of middle school athletics at Kirkland Seventh-day Adventist School is to provide an opportunity for students in grades 6-8 to be part of a team, learn fundamental skills, teamwork, problem solving and building friendships. At KSDA we want every student to have an opportunity to play and learn. We hope that with this experience they will continue to develop skills and learn to love physical activity in the future.

Goals

Our goal for the program is to teach the athletes to present themselves as upright citizens. We emphasize being respectful, playing with sportsmanship, working hard, and representing our school in a positive manner. We want to represent Jesus in everything we do on and off the court at KSDA.
