KSDA 2008 Band Tour
REFLECTIONS

The Kirkland SDA School Band, with 48 students from grades 6-8 plus 9 adults,
recently enjoyed a three-day music tour to Northwest Oregon and the Oregon coast.

The band performed 3 concerts; at the Lewis County Adventist School in Chehalis, Washington, Rivergate Adventist School in Gladstone, Oregon, and the Lincoln City Adventist School on the Oregon Coast.

These concerts provided a fun way for students to share their talents and enthusiasm to each of the audiences.
One of the exciting features of this trip was a guided tour at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

The flight museum at McMinnville, Oregon is the home of the famous “Spruce Goose” airplane and a huge array of vintage aircraft.

The students received an up close and personal education as they went aboard the Spruce Goose and toured the aircraft on display.

There were a variety of displays and DVD educational stations in the museum where they learned about many aspects of flight, aircraft, and aviation history.
Another memorable experience was a self-guided tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Tillamook, Oregon. The factory was in full operation and we could appreciate the entire production, learning how Tillamook Cheese is made, the aging process, and how it is distributed. Samples were available and of course an ice cream cone was in order.
Other highlights of the trip included a fun swimming session, inspiring worships provided by Mr. Andersen, good food at the ‘60’s Café Diner in Lincoln city and refreshing ocean beach scenery along the Oregon Coast. We arrived home tired BUT safe on Friday afternoon.
